Alaska in winter

Looking out at the harbor from Anchorage
Matanuska Glacier, seen from the Glen Highway

Mt. Wrangel or Mt. St. Elias, I don't know which, they're both huge.

Ice sculpture entries from the Fairbanks winter carnival.

Here's why the main road in Denali National Park closes in the winter.
Either the peak in the center of the pictutre is Mt. McKinley viewed from about 90 miles away (at mile 9 of the park road) or Mt. McKinley is hidden behind in the clouds.

Once again, either this is Mt. McKinley from the Parks Highway, or it sits hidden behind the clouds.

Along the Richardson Highway

Mt. Roberts (aka Batman Mountain)

One of Alaska's proudest citizens.

Mt. Roberts reflecting the sunrise (viewed from the town of Delta Junction)

The frozen Delta River

Somewhere along the Richardson Highway

The Trans-Alaska pipeline

Matanuska glacier, again

Random peak along the Glenn Highway

Don't know what the names of any of these things are.

Yes, PETA, its a fur auction in a very cold part of the world. Deal with it.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

Gemutlichkeit!

The Zugspitzebahn

A German woodpile- if you've spent time in rural areas of Germany, you've seen these. Is this some kind of law that woodpiles must be perfectly aligned?

The view from the dining area of the restaurant (see below)

A quaint little restaurant/cafe in southern Bavaria (forget the name of the town and the restaurant), on the Romantic Road.
